Ever The Skeptic: Mom Still Thinks The Weather On The News Is More True Than The Weather Online

Although she’s had internet access in her house for over 20 years now, Mom is not about to put her full trust in the information she finds there, especially not for crucial topics like weather. Case in point: Mom still thinks the weather on the news is more true than the weather online.

Looks like it’s gonna take a lot more than some app called “Weather” to overcome Mom’s skepticism!

Despite the fact that the weather report is more or less the exact same no matter which source you turn to, Mom insists that the weather on the news is far more trustworthy. Though she has an app on her phone which would tell her the same information far more quickly and easily, Mom will drop everything she’s doing to hear Jerry Pinto on the Channel 5 News tell it to her instead.

In fairness to Mom, Jerry Pinto does always wear a sport coat and tie, which makes him look pretty legit. But her reasoning is still bogus: For instance, one of Mom’s main claims against the Weather app is that one day, the app said it would be 73 degrees out, whereas Jerry Pinto said it would be 71. That afternoon, Mom went out walking with her friend Jeannette, and they both agreed it was a little cool—hardly even tank top weather—which proved to Mom that Jerry Pinto is the only person truly tapped into what’s going on meteorologically in our area. Since then, the Weather app has been as good as deleted for her, because if Jerry hasn’t said it, it just isn’t trustworthy.

Case closed! For Mom, the news is always going to be more true than her phone, and that’s that.
